The Assignment
RJM Design Company develops creative, out-of-the-box custom exhibits for its clients. RJM was hired to design and build an interactive exhibit by brought to you by The Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT) and the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE). The IWCE is North America's premier critical communications event where critical communications technology professionals gather to evaluate, learn, and network with industry leaders.
Through a client referral from Mission Critical Partners, Hyperion Studios was brought in to support the exhibit by developing a video presentation that would showcase a number of emergency communications technologies that could be deployed during a 9-1-1 emergency call – even in locations where there was not traditional cellular phone coverage.
The Solution
The theme “The PSAP of the Future” was conceived to represents the next-level emergency response technologies featured in exhibit.
A PSAP, or Public Safety Answering Point, is a call/dispatch center that receives and processes emergency calls to then coordinate the appropriate responses to first responders in the area.
Booth attendees had the opportunity to experience the PSAP of the Future firsthand. The self-guided, interactive journey took them through every stage of a Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) call in progress, following the flow from incident to response, showcasing the innovative technologies and solutions from iCERT Members.
To demonstrate these emergency communications technologies the team conceived the idea of telling a story of how a family from Vietnam, who was visiting relatives in the U.S., experienced a medical emergency while on a hiking trip in a remote State Park.
As the story unfolds, we witness the family as they work to contact critical medical assistance for their son after a bad fall where he was knocked unconscious.
